CNC honing is a highly controlled abrasive process used to improve the roundness, straightness, cylindricity, and surface finish of internal bores. At Mollart Cox, it plays a vital role in our production process — allowing us to transform rough-machined bars into finished, high-performance components ready for assembly or end use.
Our honing capability allows us to achieve tolerances as tight as 0.0125mm (0.0005″) and surface finishes down to 8 CLA (0.2 Ra) — consistently and repeatably across a range of part sizes and volumes.
Using precision tooling and tailored abrasives, we hone critical parts such as:
Working in partnership with our sister company, Mollart Cox Products — the exclusive UK distributor for Ohio Tool Works Corp — we have access to a wide range of custom tooling and abrasive media. This allows us to hone parts with unusual bore configurations or aggressive tolerance bands, especially for the Oil & Gas, Hydraulics, and Defence industries.
In addition to honing, we also offer complementary bore finishing operations including; Skiving and Roller Burnishing. These processes can be used as standalone options or integrated with honing to meet your exact performance requirements.
