CNC Milling Machinist

Job title: Skilled CNC Milling Machinist

About the role:

Mollart Cox is seeking an experienced CNC Milling Machinist to join our precision engineering team in Chesterfield. This is a hands-on role working on complex, high-value components for sectors including Oil & Gas, Defence, Nuclear, and Aerospace.

The ideal candidate will have experience setting and operating CNC milling machines, with a strong understanding of Fanuc or Heidenhain controls. You’ll be working on large and small batch work, supporting the machining of parts that often exceed standard capacity and complexity.

Responsibilities:

  • Set, operate, and adjust CNC milling machines to produce high-precision components
  • Interpret engineering drawings and work to tight tolerances
  • Confidently use Fanuc or Heidenhain controls to run and adjust programs
  • Perform in-process inspection and quality checks using appropriate measuring equipment
  • Maintain machine tools and follow preventative maintenance procedures
  • Work both independently and as part of a team to meet production targets
  • Support continuous improvement and safe working practices on the shop floor

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in CNC milling (preferably 5+ years)
  • Strong working knowledge of Fanuc and/or Heidenhain control systems
  • Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings
  • Comfortable machining large or complex components
  • Competent in using measurement tools (micrometres, verniers, gauges)
  • Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work under minimal supervision
